چکیده

Computational physics has become an essential research and interpretation tool in many fields. Particularly, in reservoir geophysics, ultrasonic and seismic modeling in porous media is used to study the properties of rocks and characterize the seismic response of geological formations. Here, we give a brief overview of the most common numerical methods used to solve the partial differential equations describing wave propagation in fluid-saturated rocks, namely finite-difference, pseudospectral and finite-element methods, including the spectral-element technique. The modeling

Fundamental Solutions of Dynamic Poroelasticity and Generalized Termoelasticity

Fundamental solutions of dynamic poroelasticity and generalized thermoelasticity are derived in the Laplace transform domain. For poroelasticity, these solutions define the solid displacement field and the fluid pressure in fluid-saturated media due to a point force in the solid and an injection of fluid in the pores. In addition, approximate fundamental solutions for short times are derived by...

Splitting schemes with respect to physical processes for double-porosity poroelasticity problems

We consider unsteady poroelasticity problem in fractured porous medium within the classical Barenblatt double-porosity model. For numerical solution of doubleporosity poroelasticity problems we construct splitting schemes with respect to physical processes, where transition to a new time level is associated with solving separate problem for the displacements and fluid pressures in pores and fra...

A nonconforming finite element method for the Biot's consolidation model in poroelasticity

A stable finite element scheme that avoids pressure oscillations for a three-field Biot’s model in poroelasticity is considered. The involved variables are the displacements, fluid flux (Darcy velocity), and the pore pressure, and they are discretized by using the lowest possible approximation order: Crouzeix-Raviart finite elements for the displacements, lowest order Raviart-Thomas-Nédélec ele...

A Generalized Multiscale Finite Element Method for poroelasticity problems I: Linear problems

In this paper, we consider the numerical solution of poroelasticity problems that are of Biot type and develop a general algorithm for solving coupled systems. We discuss the challenges associated with mechanics and flow problems in heterogeneous media. The two primary issues being the multiscale nature of the media and the solutions of the fluid and mechanics variables traditionally developed ...

A derivation of the theory of linear poroelasticity from chemoelasticity

The purpose of this brief paper is to present a new derivation of Biot’s theory of linear poroelasticity [1, 2, 3] in a modern thermodynamically-consistent fashion, and show that it may be deduced as a special case of a more general theory of chemoelasticity.
